Pardon me, but do you have any byf/dni standards?

umm... tbh, i haven't thought much about this. i probably should come up with a byf, but i'm also thinking that anyone who follows me and believes things that i think are harmful or simply don't like will stop following me soon eventually. plus i haven't seen many people on waterfall who don't meet my standards, so... idk. maybe i should think about that a little more. i can deal with people being harmful toward me, and don't really have any big triggers at the moment, but it's a whole nother thing if my blog isn't safe from people who might cause my followers harm.

sorry if this got confusing!

if u'd like, we could play animal crossing together sometime?

it doesn't look like there's a way to communicate with friends via switch, but we could use wf to plan and stuff i suppose!

sure, that'd be great (if i can work up the courage and everything lol)! i'd definitely be up to trying that!!

have you tried medication? My depression was pretty horrific and finding the right meds helped a lot. We recently moved and I've had to stop taking them and I can feel things getting bad again :/ And my brother in law said his didn't get better at all until he started taking meds either. I don't want to sound invasive but I know depression sucks so if that's something you haven't treid it might help?

oh, yeah, i'm on meds, and they have helped a lot. i guess i could try for better ones, but i'm kind of scared to risk it, knowing that i might end up how i was in the past. i think my depression is just getting worse because i'm stuck inside a lot due to the virus, which might last for a while, so i'll probably have to do something about it eventually lol.

i don't know your situation, but i hope things improve for you, too! like you're able to take your meds again or something.

i'm used to getting peaches on previous animal crossing games. they're kind of my special fruit now.

⛺ where are you going to pitch your tent?

i'm actually not sure!! it depends on what my island looks like. maybe by the beach or a nice little tucked away place surrounded by trees?

☕️ spoon/fork theory

sorry i'm answering this so late!

i'm not going to lie. i had to look up what the fork theory was. both the spoon and fork theory seem like good ways to explain energy levels, especially for ill/disabled people, but it always kind of bugged me that something like the spoon theory got so popular when there is probably a better analogy out there. i don't know. i can also see reasons why the spoon theory (and i guess that means fork theory?) mean something to people. it seems like it was the first popular analogy, and there's a story behind it (if i remember correctly).

that's all i can think of for now! over all, i think they (or at least the spoon theory) are a helpful analogy for having limited energy that a lot of people get.

vanilla: do you have any stuffed animals?

i have a few! one my partner gave me for some event (my birthday maybe?), and one i bought myself at an outdoors store for some reason. i used to own a lot, but i had to give them away when i moved. sad story.

citrus: are there any accessories you wear every day?

hmmmmm, no. i don't wear accessories much anymore. maybe i should, though? there are definitely accessories i like, and i could see some becoming special enough for me to wear every day.

rosemary: what's something good about you that even your worst enemy would have to agree with?

oh no... considering that i'm probably the worst enemy i've had so far... maybe the fact that i try to look at things from different angles? i don't know.

Daffodil, Lilac, Petunia!

Daddodil: What instrument(s) do you play?

I was taking ukulele lessons recently but decided to take a break due to lack of motivation and school starting up. I haven't gotten very good, though. I've also done guitar lessons for a little, and several people have tried to teach my piano, but I never made it it very far on those. However, I would love to learn how to play multiple instruments!! I just don't have the dicipline or dedication (unlike my brother, who quickly got good at the bass when he set his mind to it).

Lilac: When are you most active?

The morning is when I feel most active in some ways. Thanks to my meds, I'm energetic and positive then--ready to tackle a bunch of things--but that quickly fades away late morning/noon. I used to be a night owl, having the highest mood, energy, and activity at night, but that's definitely changed. After the morning passes, unless someone stops me, I spend much of my time lying on the carpet.

Petunia: Do you have any pets? Tell me about them!

I do!!! I'm currently living with two cats. It was three very recently, but one of them passed away due to blood clots and heart disease. I'm still recovering from that. Anyway, before I start crying, back to the living cats:

Racer, who is now 14 (and has severe heart problems as well), is Rocket's (the cat who passed away) brother. He's very attention hungry, which I think got worse when his brother passed, and he really likes biting toes. He'll try to spend as much time with me as possible, and I find it sad that I'm busy and out of the house most days. He's been picky about food ever since he got sick, and he often won't eat unless someone hand feeds him. (At one hospital trip, they called him a "social eater.) He's very loud and will claw or bite me if I stop petting him. Also, Racer is swirly grey, white, black, and brown. He's the dominant cat in the house.

Toby is a little younger than Racer and was once a stray. Now he's a food-obsessed lapcat who never gets full. He's constantly on the run and kind of acts like he hallucinates sometimes. Toby loves human food and will go through desperate measures to steal it. He can also get cranky sometimes, biting you when you attempt to pet him, and he hates it when people touch it tummy. He also has a really raspy meow, and it took him a long time to even learn how to meow that well. Toby's purr is also like quiet hard breathing, so it's hard to tell if he's purring sometimes. Oh, and he's orange.

sooo i also spent a lot of time stressing out about what to study (works slightly different here tho, we don't get to declare a major later or what it is you do, we just choose from the beginning what to do for our bachelor). i was very into science things (bio, chem, neuro.... all that good stuff) but then i also had huge interests in other things - psych, philosophy, german, lit, something social.... just a very broad spectrum. and for a long while i had no idea, bc i also dont know what i'll want to do professionally, like, long-term. by now, i think it's not actually that important to specifically know a profession you'll want to do - a lot of academic jobs are very broad and interdisciplinary, and you'll find something that suits you.

how i ultimately made my decision of what to do, is with the thought progression "i think most of these things, if they interest me, i can learn about on my own (online, taking some class, books..), but for the science things that's very hard. i always liked lab work, and that's practically impossible to do for yourself - so i went with biochemisty (still considering a Msc in neurobiology tho). and i'm super happy with it.

i don't know if that helps at all, it's just my kind-of-incoherent 1am thoughts, but i still remember the big "????" feeling before i had to choose and it didn't feel great. if you want, you can totally tell me some of the other thoughts you've had/maybe if you have questions ? i don't know, just hoping to help :)

thank you for sending this!!

i definitely didn't think about jobs being interdisciplinary. that'll probably help me out a lot when picking something.

you're right; many things you can learn on your own. there are just multiple things i want to be able to professionally research and make discoveries in. i guess i wouldn't need college to pursue art and music. i just hope i have enough time for them.

anyway, i'm glad you found something you're happy with!! since you were in the same/a similar situation, it defnitely helps to hear you settled with something, and you're good with it.

Chia, Gelert, Kiko, Kougra, Meercra, Vandagyre!

Chia – Tell me something about your childhood.

hmm... when i was little, everyone in the homeschool group i was in was into wrestling... except me. i'd spend a lot of time watching other kids wrestle eachother.

Gelert – Have you ever been on a plane?

yep! the last time i was on a plane was a few months ago i think, when i took a trip back to my home state.

Kiko – Who was your favorite character growing up?

i'm trying to remember. i'm not sure if i had a real "favorite character" growing up. if i did, then it's taking too long to think of them.

Kougra – Tea or coffee?

i've always been a coffee person, so i'll just say coffee, but lately, i've really started to appreciate tea.

Meerca – What is your favorite childhood game?

when i was little, the main thing we did (other than play videogames later on) was roleplay. we'd pretend to be warrior cats, pokemon, our webkinz, etc. it's hard to remember, but i think i liked roleplaying as pokemon the most.

Vandagyre – Vampires or werewolves?

hm.. not sure if i have a preference. maybe vampires? probably depends on when i'm asked the question.

not well. honestly, i've never tried a budget, but i've been pretty bad at controlling my impulsivity and spending money in general. hopefully it'll improve once i start paying for my living situation and everything...

answered here. 19. Introvert or extrovert

anyone who meets me would definitely categorize me as an introvert, but i think i'm kind of in the middle. i have to spend a certain amount of time around people to have energy, yet being around people exhausts me at the same time. according to the usual MBTI tests, i'm an introvert (usually). according to cognitive functions tests, i'm an extrovert. it can be hard to tell if my mental exhaustion coming from being around people is from me being introverted or mental health issues. i'll probably just say i'm an ambivert.

8. Serious relationships or flings

i'm in a seriously relationship now, which is nice, i and don't really know what flings are like. i might've experienced something kind of like a fling, but i was very confused at the time. it makes it extra complicated because i'm demisexual and possibly aromantic.

12. Favorite book

answered (kind of) here. 16. Favorite scent

probably the smell of something from a bakery. i love bread and bread-like things. maybe cinnamon buns? actually, this might be weird, but my cats might have my favorite scent. the way they smell is so comforting to me.

20. Do you scare easily

when it comes to people, yes. otherwise, i don't think so. unless i'm having a paranoia episode or someting. in general, about a lot of things, i can be daredevil-y. but a surprising amount of things involve consequences with people, so i avoid them out of fear.

when it comes to stuff like jump scares and horror movies, maybe i'm in the middle? i generally don't take horror movies too seriously (horror games might be a different story), but i do jump to jump scares every now and then.

24. What would you do with a million dollars

this is hard because i can be impulsive. what i'd try to do is save it, figure out what i might need for my future (especially with all these medical bills i'll have to partially manage one day), and hopefully give most of it to people who need it more than i do. but, again, i can be impulsive.

4. A food you could eat forever and not get bored of

this is a hard one. right now i'm thinking cream parfait, though i'd probably get bored of that eventually, and i'd probably come up with a better food if i thought about it for longer.

22. Do you play any video games

yes!! i just beat A Way Out (a co-op game) with my partner, and i'm currently playing Animal Crossing New Leaf (again), trying to 100% it if possible. also playing a little Mabinogi, the Final Fantasy series, the Kingdom Hearts series (my partner wanted me to try it out), and more. i'm actually trying to beat games because i tend to finish them and quit them somewhere around the end and restart them later. yikes, sorry about all that rambling.

23. Dream job

i don't normally tell anyone this. only one person in real life knows, and i'm not even sure if anyone online knows, but... i've always wanted to write and perform (preferably sing) songs in a band or something. but i don't believe in that happening, so i've never put that effort into accomplishing it. i guess i've mostly given up at this point, although my partner is trying to convince me to at least try.

as a backup, it'd also be cool to run my own studies in neurology, psychology, or a certain kind of physics maybe. i might not be able to achieve that, but going to school for it keeps me occupied i guess. (i know i'm lucky enough to say that.) i'll figure the rest out later.

2. A strange fact about yourself

i've already answered this one, but i can always give it a different answer! one strange fact about myself is... i'll feel really bad for stuffed animals sometimes. like.. i'll keep readjusting the position they're in, thinking they must be uncomfortable. i'll also cry about how horrible their lives must be, especially because i don't pay much attention to them generally. it hasn't happened for a while now. it used to happen all the time when i was little, though. i constantly thought that they had feelings, and that they were being neglected no matter what i did.

11. A movie you could watch over and over again

The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie (had to look it up to make sure i type out the right title.)

12. Favorite book

this is hard because i don't really read books anymore. i want to, and i'm almost entirely sure that i'd enjoy reading, but i never get around to it for some reason. i don't even remember my favorite books from when i was younger. if i did, i'd probably read them again. so i don't just... not answer the question, i really enjoyed the Warrior Cats series when i was younger. i'm thinking about reading it to the end sometime soon becuase i never reached it before.
